Little Jessica from Detroit is 5 years old. Jessica is a happy, beautiful, and sweet girl. She is an incredibly strong and caring big sister. Jessica rushed into this world at 26 weeks gestation, weighing only 950 grams. Although the doctors' prognosis for Jessica was pessimistic, her family wholeheartedly believed and hoped that everything would be alright. Jessica proved to be a great fighter in the hospitals, as she faced severe and life-threatening situations. The most serious impact on Jessica's health came from a brain hemorrhage, which caused cerebral palsy and spastic diplegia. As Jessica's mom says, “Our little girl literally slipped through the eye of a needle. As a family, we have become much stronger going through these hardships, learning to love and accept unconditionally, and to cherish each new day and Jessica's achievements!”
Jessica is a wonderful girl who warms and opens the hearts of everyone with her chatter and jokes. She is very creative and active, engaging others with her play and activities. She takes care of her toy cats and dogs. At her age, Jessica understands discipline remarkably well and attends rehabilitation sessions without much complaining, actively participating in the process and fighting for her achievements alongside specialists. Jessica is very strong, and she truly knows what she wants. With the support of donors, Jessica has received intensive rehabilitation and has made great progress; she has become much more independent, can climb stairs by herself, ride a tricycle, and walk longer distances on her own. Jessica has learned to jump. Specialists recommend not stopping at her achievements and continuing to attend rehabilitation.
Jessica needs at least 4 intensive rehabilitation courses at the rehabilitation center each year. One three-week course costs $3,285, totaling $13,140 needed, of which $1,086 is already available from raised but unused funds. Therefore, we are asking donors for $12,054. The little girl’s family is seeking our help.
